Nativity of St. John the Baptist, with Bishop Mark Holmerud

Lutherans Concerned/San Francisco Bay Area is sponsoring a joint liturgy with our Episcopal brothers and sisters as we commemorate the prophetic voice in the wilderness that prepared the way for Christ. Bishop Mark Holmerud (Sierra Pacific ELCA Synod) is presiding and Father Tommy Dillon (rector of St. Aidan's Episcopal Church, SF) is preaching. This liturgy is part of LC/SFBA's PRIDE celebration. Pride Mass & March

The San Francisco Bay Area Chapter of Lutheran Concerned/North America invites you to join other Bay Area Lutherans to worship, then march in this year’s Pride Parade^* in San Francisco. Meet us at 10:30 AM on Beale Street between Mission & Howard Streets. Here are this year's events:
 

• Open Air Pride Eucharist, 10:30 AM
  A joint service cosponsored by LC/SFBA and Oasis California, the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender Ministry of the Episcopal Diocese of California. Co-celebrated by The Rt. Rev. Marc Andrus, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of California and The Rt. Rev. Mark Holmerud¸ Bishop of the Lutheran Sierra Pacific Synod, ELCA. We'll have copies to hand out but if you want you can download and print the Pride Mass worship booklet here.
   
• Pride Parade
  Join LC/SFBA, Bishop Holmerud, and Bishop's Associate Nancy Nelson in the parade. We have signs representing each RIC congregation -- please come walk with us and carry one! Our Assembly Area location is Beal Street between Folsom and Bryant Streets, our section letter is "M", and our line-up contingent number is 207.

If someone is providing transportation for you, go East on Folsom Street, which is one way, and exit at the corner of Folsom Street and Beal Street. There is no parking in the area so the driver of your vehicle must continue on and leave the area altogether. You may also use BART or Muni to get to the Assembly Area. Exit at the Embarcadero Station and walk West to Beal Street on Market Street and turn left on Beal Street.

If you want to see part of the parade before joining us, walk down Market Street to Beal Street and join us on Beal Street. The parade begins promptly at 10:30 am with a large contingent of Dykes on Bikes. Time yourself so that you are at Market and Beal Streets no later than 11:30 AM and walk down Beal Street to join our contingent.

Note: If you do not join our contingent on Beal Street, you can not join us as we march up Market Street. There are barricades all along the way.

Be sure to bring water, sunscreen, sunglasses, snacks, comfortable walking shoes, and a jacket in case it's foggy and windy.

LC/SFBA Board Meetings

Third Sundays, 2 PM
Board meetings are open to all. Except for the Annual Meeting in July or August, they are held in the Fireside Room in the Urban Life Center adjacent to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 1101 O’Farrell Street in San Francisco. Free parking in St. Mark’s lot.
